Festival Street Cutting Project

The City of Portland contracted Parsons RCI for the NW 3rd and 4th Ave Improvement Project. Within the scope of the project was what the City called "Festival Street Scoring", which involved bevel cutting. Parsons RCI, a long time customer of ours brought us in to have a look at the plans to see if what the City wanted to do was feasible. We, along with our dedicated team of blade reps, came up with a reasonable solution for them. The end result was very pleasing to all involved.
Westside CSO Tunnel Project
Contractor: Impregilo-Healy JV
Project Location: Downtown Portland
In 2003 work began on the City of Portland's largest construction project in history. The Westside CSO Tunnel is a $260 million sewer tunneling project that consists of a 4 mile, 14.5 foot diameter tunnel extending along the west side of the Willamette River in Downtown Portland. When completed the Tunnel will aide in reducing pollution to the Willamette River caused by overflow from the heavy Northwest rain. Brothers' role in the project was fairly extensive we employed nearly every piece of equipment at one time or another. From cutting asphalt up in the streets above to sawing in the Swan Island shaft 160' below.
One of our main functions, seen above, was to cut off pipe segments in the various shafts. With Impregilo-Healy's tight time schedule we were expected to respond next day with full crews to complete tasks. We were able to keep up with the work flow and developed a well respected working relationship with them. A lot of Impregilo-Healy's management began work with Kiewit Bilfinger Berger on the Eastside CSO Tunnel project taking us with them.
OR 126: Crooked River Bridge Project

Project Location: Prineville, OR
With the purchase of a couple of wire saws new opportunities have opened up for us. This project for ODOT was one of them. On this project JAL Construction contracted us to saw the bridge deck into manageable pieces for them to remove.
Once the deck was off we began sawing the exposed beams using our wire saws and wall saws.
